Research & Development
O’Neil Color &
Compounding is a supporter of the ICC New Product Development Center in Dover,
OH.
In their laboratories, products with specific resin properties can be formulated
and later manufactured at an O’Neil Color facility. This ISO9000
laboratory is also capable of analytical and mechanical testing of competitive
products. Specialty compounds
are developed for UV, Flame retardant, Heat deflection,
surface properties, processing enhancement, specifically for our customers

Capabilities
PHYSICAL TESTING
includes the ability to measure full flexural and tensile properties on a
"state of the art" computerized INSTRON, notched & un-notched and
drop weight impact measurable from room temperature down to -50°
F, heat deflection & vicat softening point, specific gravity, torque
rheometry, melt flow index, coefficient of friction, and a variety of more
specific product tests.
SAMPLE PREPARATION
capabilities are supported by a laboratory scale Banbury mixer, high speed mixer
for powder blending, two roll mills, sheet and pellet extrusion with single
screw extrusion, pellet production with twin screw co-rotating extruder and
injection molders.
BURN PROPERTIES
such as are defined, by FAA, DOT, and Underwriters Laboratories can be measured
along with Limiting Oxygen Index.
ACCELERATED WEATHERING
is accompllished with a QUV cabinet and soon a xenon arc weatherometer will be
available as well
ANALYTICAL
capabilities include FT-Infrared, differential scanning calorimetry, thermal
gravimetric analysis, high-pressure liquid, gas and gel permeation
chromatography, mass spectroscopy, and wet chemistry analysis.
OTHER TESTING
requirements are frequently run in several outside laboratories that meet our
stringent quality testing standards.
